Conventional elastane is a commonly used fibre which gives fabric elasticity. The fibre is made from oil which is a fossil resource. We are exploring the development of sustainable alternatives to conventional elastane, such as recycled elastane and bio-based elastane.
Conventional nylon/polyamide is a commonly used artificial fibre made from oil which is a fossil resource. We are constantly striving to increase our use of recycled nylon, which is made from waste such as old fishing nets, carpets, and industrial waste. We are also engaging in the development of other sustainable nylon options, such as bio-based nylon.
Conventional polyester is a commonly used artificial fibre made from fossil resources (crude oil). We are constantly striving to increase our use of recycled polyester; a more sustainable option made from waste such as plastic (PET) bottles. We are also engaging heavily in developing technologies that will enable textile-to-textile recycling, to further improve the sustainability of recycled polyester and save natural resources.
